My Sassy Girl

If there's one Korean film everyone needs to see, it's My Sassy Girl. I'd write a review for it, but I don't really have time to make a review that would do justice to the film's beauty, so I'll just leave it to the experts.

A Hollywood remake is actually on its way (starring Elisha Cuthbert and Jesse Bradford), so for those who haven't seen the award-winning Korean original (subtitled, not subbed), you better start looking. hehe :D

Now for those who've already seen the movie (READ: spoiler alert),

here is a transcription of Kyun-woo's 10 rules:

1. Don't ask her to be feminine.
2. Don't let her drink over three glasses. She'll beat someone.
3. At a cafe, drink coffee instead of coke or juice.
4. If she hits you, act like it hurts. If it hurts act like it doesn't.
5. On your 100th day together, give her a rose during her class. She'll like it a lot.
6. Make sure you learn fencing and squash.
7. Also, be prepared to go to prison sometimes.
8. If she says she'll kill you, don't take it lightly. You'll feel better.
9. If her feet are hurting, exchange shoes with her.
10. Finally, she likes to write. Encourage her.

This part of the movie was so touching, I cried on the first two times I saw it.  And little did I know back then that the Korean song playing in the background ("I Believe") actually had beautiful lyrics:

I believe, even though you’re not with me
Even then, it doesn't mean we’ve parted
I believe, the pathway back to me
Merely takes a little detour

In the midst of all the past memories
I hurt myself and bring myself tears

I wish that you won’t cry as much as I did
That you would leave me with tearless ease

I know that someday you’ll return
And that’s what I trust

I will wait, I will do it just for you

I believe, because I might be hurt
You didn’t even cry
I believe, the tears that I cry
Will bring you back to me

Constantly pausing, within my line of sight
Your shadows bring tears to my eyes

I wish that you won’t cry as much as I did
That you would leave me with tearless ease

I know that someday you’ll return
And that’s what I trust

I will wait, I will do it just for you

Even before I knew you
Was the world this dazzling?
Now, under that same sky, I’m left with tears
I’ll guard my place

For you are the only reason
I will be happy in my waiting

For the only reason of love
Even as the days pass, even if you get lost

I will wait, I will do it just for you

I will do it just for you
