meebo vs chatbox

I've found that one of the unfortunate things about wordpress is that they won't allow chatboxes as addons to their blogs. The closest thing to a chatbox that you could add is a meebo widget which looks like but doesn't function like a chatbox.

Meebo is a place where you can login to your Yahoo! Messanger account (among other things) without using the Yahoo! Messanger program itself. Very handy when you don't have time to download and install the program, and also if using the program is not allowed in your place (meebo just sits inside your browser page).

Now, having the meebo widget in my blog allows viewers to see if I'm online in meebo and send me private messages, which would not be seen by other viewers looking at the blog at the same time. Conversely, while online in meebo I can see if someone is viewing my blog, and I can send him/her private messages.

This is a lot different from the usual chatbox where everyone can see what everyone writes. This makes me miss my blogspot blog a bit..but hey, there's always the comments section :)
